  24. I do use TurboPrint 4.x (4.1 is the most recent) from the German IrseeSoft
  25. developer. The output are great! Even with 600x600dpi in bw mode. No more
  26. stripes.

  51. Yes! Definetly good! As a teacher I do all my tests and exams with PageStream 3
  52. and my HP 850 using the included 660C driver in ordered mode as this is the
  53. fastest though not the best. Floyd Steinberg mode is far better, but my pictures
  54. don't have so much colours or are not so important so I use the ordered mode.

  56. If I use TurboPrint in conjunction with PageStream the final printout runs
  57. forever (several hours!!!) That's because PageStream does it's own dithering and
  58. TurboPrint dithers the output again.
  59. So if I want cool professional results I do output my doc as 300x300 dpi ILBM-
  60. IFF file (some megs per page, depends on the number of pix and colors used).
  61. This IFF file is printed with TurboPrint's PrintManager with super results and
  62. much faster than PageStream!
  63. I used this method to do the output for T-shirt-transfers for one of my classes
  64. and for some birthday cards with 24 bit pix!

  66. BTW all my transparency films (for the overhead projector) are printed this way!
  67. Brilliant colors with black being true black!

  74. Yes! This ColorSmart software looks great! But I think the results with
  75. TurboPrint 4.x (does use truecolor system) or Studio II are better!!!!
  76. You do have much more parameters to change, like normal paper, inkjetpaper,
  77. laser paper, transparencies, premium paper (these do make wonderful posters of
  78. PHOTO-CD pix). But there are parameters for everything like dithering (several
  79. 10 possibilities), text output, Gamma correction, colors etc. etc.
  80. No chance for the ColorSmart System!

  84. That's the other problem! I have installed the ColorSmart System on my MAC
  85. partition. But EMPLANT doesn't start anymore as I do have installed the minimal
  86. version of MAC OS. ;-( Shapeshifter does run from the same partition! with the
  87. same version of MAC OS. I can run ColorSmart but there is NO output on my
  88. HP850C.
  89. The MAC says the printer is NOT present! That's because HP did program the
  90. Colorsmart system NON-MAC conform!!!! It pokes directly to the printer port!
  91. I think it won't work with Emplant either!
